Window Shopping

I’ve spent a couple of nights away catching up with Spiky Kay and Red Mel, my friends from college. We can do that a bit more often now we’re all retired occupational therapists. From our Weymouth base we headed east and took the jaw droppingly beautiful coast road to Bridport. The views of Chesil Beach were stunning in both directions.

Now Bridport is one of my favourite towns for a wander round. It’s a bustling place with lots of independent retailers. I’m not sure that the sunbathing Action Men that we spotted were up for sale but these beautiful cacti and other plants certainly were.

The toyshop where Spiky Kate used to buy Christmas presents for her kids is still going strong. This massive model of a big wheel was in the window. Wow! Someone very patient must have spent hours using a fair few sets of K’nex to construct this.

And what a lovely offering in the bakers. I was particularly taken by that big cob loaf.

We spotted this baby-gro in the window of an interesting gift shop. So quirky! If only I had a wee one to buy for.

And we marvelled over this range of veggies. What a selection! We puzzled over the weird things that were second left of the top shelf. The general consensus was that these were a variety of courgette.

I loved this mural on the side of a butcher’s shop.

And of course there are charity shops aplenty. They tempted me to step away from the window and enter inside. I was pleased to find rich pickings. Here’s my favourite find. Isn’t this the cutest essential oil burner ever!

    • We thought that the long white one might be the mooli. I had one once before and it was a bit like a radish. It was the pale green curvy one with a bulge on the end that puzzled us.
