In 1997 I spent two months walking on the original Appalachian Trail from its Southern terminus in Georgia to somewhere in Virginia. And then my fellow thru-hiker, my ex-husband, broke a bone in his foot so that put pay to that! I’m love to go back and complete the way but I doubt that I’d be successful. The mind is willing but I suspect the flesh wouldn’t play ball. My feet cause me a bit of trouble these days after a long hike.
I took this picture of a little stroll on our Pembrokeshire holiday earlier in the year. I was delighted that there was an International Appalachian Trail, made up of paths that span several countries in North America, Europe and North Africa. What delighted me even more that I have a little bit of the trail just metres away from my home. The South West Coast Path is part of the collaboration.
